Wellbeing Speaker London | What I’ve Learned After 10 Years of Wellbeing Talks

As a wellbeing speaker based in London, this city is where I grew up. I’ve seen firsthand how hectic it can be. People rushing to work, looking miserable on the tube, caught up in the grind.

Even growing up, I noticed how many people around me weren’t taking care of themselves.

After completing a degree in sport and exercise rehabilitation, I knew I wanted to work in a field that helped people feel better. Then in 2013, I spent a year living in Australia and travelling across South East Asia. What I noticed instantly was how different the pace of life felt.

People seemed calmer, healthier, and more focused on actually looking after themselves. It made me look at London differently, and I came back knowing I wanted to help people live life better.

That was over ten years ago. Since then, I’ve delivered wellbeing talks to teams across London and the UK, from global tech companies, NHS trusts, charities and City firms.

In this blog, I’m sharing what over ten years of delivering wellbeing talks in London have taught me, whether you’re thinking about booking a speaker or simply want to know what actually works.

A Moment I’ll Never Forget as a Wellbeing Speaker

I was running a full-day bespoke workshop with a team, and one of the topics we were exploring was gratitude.

I gave the room a simple task.

Discuss the things that you’re grateful for in your working environment.

I shared an example of the things I’m grateful for in my working environment, to help prompt some thought, then I got people to discuss this in groups of three.

As I went round the room listening to these conversations, there were some inspiring examples, but one which stood out beyond the rest.

I asked if this lady was comfortable sharing her story with the room, and she was happy to do so.

She explained how a few years ago her husband had a major surgery, and the mental pressure and stress this put on her was horrible.

Throughout this time, she noticed her work had been slipping and she wasn’t able to perform to the best of her ability.

However, during this difficult period, her direct colleagues were extremely supportive and empathetic toward her situation. She expressed how grateful she was to her colleagues for not only taking on extra work, but doing it with compassion and understanding of her situation.

Up until this point, her colleagues didn’t know how grateful she was and the look of appreciation on all of their faces was unforgettable.

As the lady finished expressing her gratitude, she began to cry, and everyone joined in a group hug, and the room was full of warm and fuzzy vibes.

These are the moments that a wellbeing speaker can create, and it not only brings teams closer, but also gives people opportunities to express appreciation to others.

What I Ask Every Company Before Delivering a Wellbeing Talk

Hiring a wellbeing speaker is a great way to inspire, motivate, encourage, and support people, but only if it aligns with the people in the room.

That makes it essential to understand the audience before I deliver a talk.

Before any talk, I get on a call with the company to make sure the session is right for their people.

I want to know how many attendees are expected, what they’re hoping people will get from the talk, and what success looks like for them.

I also ask about any challenges the team might be facing, and whether there are any existing wellbeing initiatives I can reference and build on during the session.

A wellbeing talk for 10 people looks completely different to a wellbeing talk for 500 people, so understanding attendee numbers helps to plan accordingly.

Getting all of that right beforehand means I can walk into any room ready to deliver something that actually resonates with the people in it.

Why London Teams Need Wellbeing Talks More Than Most

London can be a hectic city, not only because of the number of people individuals bump into on the way to work, but also because of the typical hustle hard working culture.

In 2025, NHS England published a dedicated mental health strategy specifically for London, separate from the rest of the country.

The strategy openly acknowledges a significant treatment gap in the capital. More Londoners are struggling with their mental health than services can currently support.

And support for this can start in the workplace.

For London teams, a wellbeing talk is not just a nice addition to the calendar. It is one of the most practical things you can do for your people and something that will positively impact people in more ways than you realise.

What Makes a Wellbeing Talk Actually Stick

To make a wellbeing talk stick with the audience, it needs to be relevant and unique to the audience in the room.

One of the best ways to do this is through relatable storytelling.

When we hear stories that we can resonate with, it puts things into perspective, which ultimately helps people remember and take action towards supporting their wellbeing.

Clear and actionable frameworks and key phrases are what help messages stick.

With a framework or relevant acronym, it makes it easier to remember long after the talk.

It’s also great to have an experienced speaker who can adapt on the spot, read a room and know when to push or pull back.

Done well, a wellbeing talk does not just inspire people on the day. It stays with them long after.

The Real Impact of a Wellbeing Talk on Your Team

The impact of having a wellbeing speaker can be bigger than most organisations realise.

Most organisations see the positive comments and the feedback attendees give, but they don’t often get to see the impactful changes that people make outside of work because of a talk.

When individuals leave a talk, they keep processing the ideas long after they leave the room.

Whether that is being able to reframe positive thoughts more regularly or taking better care of their health, the impact can often be transformative.

A talk can ultimately leave people with the tools to feel happier and healthier which have a direct correlation to their productivity levels at work.

People often leave with phrases and frameworks they are still using weeks and months later.

They feel more connected as a team and better equipped to handle the pressures of a busy London working environment.

When employees feel their company genuinely cares about them, that has a real impact on loyalty, retention and the culture of the whole workplace.

What to Look for When Booking a Wellbeing Speaker in London

When booking a wellbeing speaker in London, the first thing to look for is whether they take time to understand your team before agreeing to anything. A good speaker will want to know your goals, your challenges and what you are hoping people will take away. If they are not asking those questions, that is a sign the session will feel generic.

You also want someone with genuine credibility in the topic you need. Most wellbeing speakers can cover a range of subjects, but for more specific topics it is worth finding someone with real experience in that area. As a speaker myself, I would never deliver a talk on menopause for example, because I have not lived that experience. Credibility matters, and your team will notice the difference.

Finally, look at testimonials. If you have not seen a speaker in action, other people’s experiences are the next best thing. Look for testimonial quotes, videos and use this to help you gain confidence in them.

If you are looking for a wellbeing speaker in London who takes the time to understand your team and delivers something that actually makes a difference, I would love to hear from you.
